Annakshetra

Vision of the project:

The vision of this project is to bridge the gap between wastage of surplus food and to those who do not avail food. The wide disparities in distribution of resources in India have two sides of the coin. One who have wealth or resources and other do not have access to those.  We through this projects aims to work on one key aspect of this facts that is minimizing the wastage of food that can be utilized to serve many hungry and poor. One thing which is very much clear is that the food is not waste food, it is surplus and thus go unused and finally becomes waste.

Objective:

  • To minimize the food wastage
  • To Utilize spare food in proper manner
  • To generate awareness towards food wastage
  • To deliver spare food to targeted deprived group
  • To facilitate appropriate food service system mechanism

Annakshetra Milestones:

Since its inception form last month, Annakshetra has achieved following milestone in Jaipur city.

  • Have been serving 13,659 needy and poor beneficiaries in a week by delivering them the    leftover clean and neat food received from wedding parties
  • Regular delivery of unused food to 5 institutions including orphanage home, street children, bal basera, homeless people and old age home
  • Developed networking with more than 1500 donors including restaurant owners, caterers
  • Reached out to 300 donors and wedding parties to get the unused food
  • Covered 500 household and more than 700 individuals for leftover food donations
  • Approached 40 university, college canteens and mess in Jaipur city for leftover food
  • Received more than 300 invitations from influential personalities and professional groups to collect the unused food
  • Brought unorganised community together to strengthen the service delivery
  • Developed the preservation system with available local resources and initiated volunteering in the project
  • Documentation and report to donors and beneficiaries with all details has been sent timely to maintain the transparency and details
  • Appreciation and recognition of donors through the thanks letter and regular communication
