RTI ACT is an Act to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities, in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority, the constitution of a Central Information Commission and State Information Commissions and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Right to Information is a part of fundamental rights under Article 19(1) of the Constitution.

Right to Information has an important economic dimension, as it embraces not only political freedom but also the freedom to lead a life with dignity, unfettered by domination and discrimination. It is citizen’s right to obtain information from any public authority relating to its administration, operations or decisions.

Centre for Development Communication (CDC) is practicing RTI to raise the voice of the people under the RTI ACT.

RTI is a weapon to raise the voice on the behalf of voiceless. CDC is working with the local communities as well as the grassroots people to provide the justice to them. Experience of working with the local communities and grassroots people, for last few years, CDC realised that in democratic country like India people need to be motivated and arouse the curiosity among the citizen of country to practice the human right. It has been also seen and experienced through organizational involvement in filing the RTI cases that people are still not much more aware about the various aspects of it, hence CDC started nurturing the RTI practices and develop a viable system to the common person.
