It was realized by like minded people of CDC from their 15 years of experience dealing with waste that not only managing waste is a big issue but the person who are dealing with waste or the human resource in the management of waste work they are equally entitled to have social security benefits in the country.

We only concerned about generating waste and throwing out it from our home to other place but we never thought about the further picture of waste. This waste is the source of livelihood of 1% of the people on the earth who is dealing with waste. If we see the picture broadly then we will find these waste worker play a vital role in keeping our earth clean and healthy as well as creating healthy society for people like us also. They help the environment by collecting waste and finding reusable things from the waste, industry, creating healthy society and sharing the burden of municipalities on their own shoulders.

Besides of lots of advantage to the society the condition of waste worker in our society is very pathetic they are considered as marginalized because of their work they don’t have access to basic facility as health, education, clean drinking water, space for living etc. They don’t have provisions for their identity, health safety, old age, emergency, disability, risk allowance and benefits of other policy etc.     

Center for Development Communication (CDC) is very much concerned about the condition of waste worker in our society. Now CDC is involved in organizing this waste worker so that a collective voice can be raised for the social security of the waste worker.

The vision social security of waste worker involves:

• To organize them in an association
• To provide Identification and social recognition.
• To make them aware about better health care and Sanitary practice at work site as well as personal end.
• To trained them for optimum utilization of waste as a livelihood option.
• To provide them alternate livelihood options.
•  Child development through the welfare activities.
